Summer fruit picking is back

After my appointment in Antioch today I drove “next door” to Brentwood. Lo and behold there was fruit to be picked! Since I was by myself I bought pre-picked stuff, but if you want to pick cherries, peaches, apricots, or strawberries, now’s the time to go! I was told that this year’s cherry crop is pretty lousy (low yields), but they sure tasted good!

Busy months

Much to my surprise, May turned out to best the DCRP site’s best month ever — even better than the last holiday season. For the first time the site broke the three million visitor mark. In fact, we had over 3.1 million visitors! I’m not sure exactly why things are so busy now (not that I’m complaining), but I’m thinking it may be people shopping for a camera for their summer vacations.
Speaking of summer vacations, I somehow have to finish ten reviews before I leave for my trip to Europe in early July. Yuck.

Kitty in a box

How much does it cost to ship a 12 pound cat overnight?

In the near future I’m going to find out about doing some volunteer work. I’m doing it for several reasons: to meet new people, get out of the house a little bit, and give back to the community. Being an animal lover I’ll probably volunteer at a shelter or rescue foundation.
A wise man once told me that volunteering is a good way to meet like-minded people (read: giving, unselfish) — and I hope that’s the case.

Zoe’s trip to the vet

I haven’t had much to say, which is why it’s been so quiet around here lately. I do have a few stories though…
Last Thursday I took Zoe to the vet for the first time (she had gone before I adopted here as well). As you probably have noticed, Zoe has gone from a scrawny kitten to a chubby cat in six months, so I wanted to make sure that she was healthy. The answer is, yes, she’s healthy — she’s just prone to weight gain. So, now she’s on a different diet food, and hopefully that will help her drop a pound or two.
