My house is officially done! Tomorrow is my walkthrough. If I find something wrong, they have a few days to fix it. Once I’m happy, I sign off on the house. Then, next Monday I sign my loan documents and give them a huge check. It’ll close 2 days later — so next Wednesday the house is mine!

I think I’m going to start a hall of fame for all the dumb e-mails I get from DCRP readers. Usually they fall into one of three categories:
#1 – I know you don’t give personal recommendations, but can you tell me which camera you’d buy for under $500, and why?
#2 – My camera stopped working. Can you fix it?
#3 – Hello, I am from Indonesia. I would like to buy 20 NIKON D100s. Do you accept credit cards? How much is shipping to Indonesia? (These are quite common)

Those crazy people over at Healthcare Recoveries certainly know how to keep things interesting. I got a letter from them today which reminded me that when I get a settlement, Kaiser gets a piece. That’s expected and I have no problem with that.
What’s really funny (in a bad way) about the letter is the breakdown in costs for my treatment. This was for a one-night stay for a concussion. Some of the highlights include:
    Emergency room – $10,416.80
    CT scan #2 – $6375.60
    Room & board – $3055.00
    CT scan #1 – $2307.60
Pharmacy – $517 (for what? Besides saline, all I got was a dose of tylenol!)
The grand total was over $26,000. Can’t wait to put this all behind me.

That I’d be running a Mac app in Windows XP. But Apple did a great job recreating iTunes for Windows. I’d like to check out that new media reader for iPod… too bad mine doesn’t support it.

based on the book about the direcway M25 by Iain Sinclair. Like free directv Mark, I’m a bit ambivalent free satellite tv about Sinclair’s writing (although directv I’ve only read bits of it, free direct tv mainly in the LRB), but I actually satellite tv found it worked better on film, dish network its fulgurous succession of dish network metaphors, digressions and direct tv
