  • Have you seen this lens?

If you’ve looked at cheap compact cameras, then you’ve probably seen this lens before. It’s an F3.1-5.9, 3X zoom lens, with a focal range of 6.3 – 18.9 mm.
While it doesn’t bother me that various camera manufacturers use the same lens (and who knows who actually manufacturers it), it does seem a bit misleading that they put their brand name on it.
This compilation of product shots also shows you how Photoshopped some of them can be!

    • I’ve always had the suspicion that vendors were using OEM lenses, specially on the low-end of the compact market. Nice catch!.
The funny thing?, Nikon is currently running an advertisement campaign in Spain, for their Coolpix models on radio and tv, saying “lens is the difference”, believe it or not. They explain people that Coolpix cameras are better because their lenses are better than the competitors…
      amazing what globalization can make.
