  • Too good not to share

Posted on February 10th, 2009 Jeff Keller 5 comments

I got this e-mail from a disgruntled ‘customer’ whom I’m apparently disrepecting. I’ll leave his name out of it, but will post the message for your enjoyment:
You have very nice review that I preferred over dpreview but…
I was probably one of your most loyal reader but I’m not because your reviews are so often delayed and for many days… it’s too much for me. To me it’s a mark of no respect. I could understand 1, 2 or 3 days once in a while due to rain, but you abuse too many times for too many days of my sympathy. Sorry ! I ban your site and removed the link from my own website.
    Bye and good luck.
A frustrated user that waited too much too often !!!

    My thoughts:

    • Rain delays do happen — I need clear skies for my test photos
    • Last week was spent writing a preview of a yet-to-be-announced camera
    • I have many other tasks besides writing reviews
    • Don’t let the door hit you on the way out

    • Hi Jeff,
I can understand the other reader, sometimes the delays are a bit frustrating, but I’m sure that most of them have a good reason… Regarding the last delays, they aren’t happening just on DCResource… All the main sites (DPR and IR, for example) are also very (strangely) quiet!
      Keep up the good work!

    • You’d think the guy was paying you or something. While I like to see the latest and greatest, I’d rather have a proper, accurate review than one rushed out the door to try to scoop other sites. I just as often look at your reviews of older cameras for comparisons as I do for the most recent ones.

    • Jeff,
I think you’re doing an amazing job. I’ve been reading your reviews for years and I’m still excited when a new one gets posted.
Running a one-man shop can be difficult in itself and I am pretty sure you can’t control the weather so I have a complete understanding if there are unforseen difficulties. And if one can’t wait a couple of days to read the review (from time to time), I think that people need to find something a bit more important to stress about.
Keep up the great work and I am looking forward to many years of solid and tell-it-as-it-is reviews.

    • For a site that gives me the high quality reviews that yours does for free, absolutely any review, regardless of when it appears on the web site is soon enough for me. keep up the good work.

    • Hi Jeff, I agree and disagree with this guy.
You’re reviews got late and less the last month. If I really need current informations I have to get it elsewhere. Sorry! Furthermore I think the reviews should be more intensive.
I know that your doing your business alone. No co-workers or employees. That’s hard stuff. I used to be self-employed an I know it.
But don’t be annoyed! Anyhow I like your reviews and your blog and will be loyal!
      Stay cool!
